Christmas humour

[Aikido-ho-ho-ho!
Happy Falls for 2008]

Some aikido practitioners woke up today with a magnificent present in their e-mail boxes
After asking permission to its author we share this present with all readers of this blog wishing them a very Merry Christmas.

"Dear tatami colleagues:

Santa Claus himself told me (in the presence of Baby Jesus, so I believe him, and also because there was no sake in front of him) that the famous shout (he called kiai)Ho-ho-ho! heard on Christmas night when Santa is distributing the presents is actually derived from the word AIKIDO. Amazing isn't it?!

Once upon a time, Santa, in the presence of O-Sensei, was called to carry out his Dan exam. Santa Claus, already an old man, had forgotten his Gi and was wearing a red kimono. Even so, Sensei Ueshiba allowed him to take the exam and Santa passed (there must have really been some sake here). Santa was all happy and cheerful, constantly repeating "Aikido-ho-ho-ho!". O-Sensei awarded him the black belt, he never took off again, as one can see in his every photo. Some say that even 0-Sensei changed his fearful kiai to "Ho-ho-ho!" afterwards, but that is speculation (although Aiki News says they have it recorded).

So, you didn't know about this story did you? But I thought it was time to spread it out and this is my Christmas present to you all, with friendship!!!
Rogério Silva”

Another one of those moments much like Sensei Rogério. Thank you for the present and all patience demonstrated.
Thank you also for the work developed on the tatami, sharing knowledge and spreading the good mood so characteristic of him, as well as his extremely refined sense of humour.
AIKI greatings,
Camilo Carneiro
