Saturday, December 6th, at ESMAE Rogério Silva, an accredited therapist, will host a shiatsu workshop in which you can enjoy the feelings and benefits of this relaxing therapeutic technic and its applications in everyday life.

Session is open to anyone interested, aikido practitioner or not. Bring your friend(s), boyfriend/ girlfriend or family and take the opportunity to relax...

Note: For your own confort bring low weight, confortable clothes (tracksuit or similar) and a towel (bath or beach towel) or a yoga/ camping mattress.

4-5/10/2008 - Luc Deweys Sensei

The School of Music and Performing Arts was the perfect set to welcome another international seminar organized by APARN in the past weekend of October 4th and 5th.
In an intimate and familiar environment, those present had the opportunity to absorb the always fascinating knowledges of Luc Deweys Sensei. In every visitation, this Master always makes us find new technique in movements that, although simple and obvious, or perhaps for those same reasons, are often disregarded.
Sensei Deweys took the opportunity to approach basic techniques which, on a higher level, tend to be underestimated, and with this also managed to harmoniously integrate students of diverse graduations. The close contact he is able to maintain with the practitioners allows him to identify each one’s difficulties in order to avoid repeatedly wrong and unnecessary movements or, as it is usually called “parasite movements”. Movements that, quite often expose the use of force when precision is really the purpose within this art.
A really fair testimony of this seminar would mean a post of several pages. In short, at the end of this seminar it remained, as always, the feeling that the individual progression path is still long; as well as the great will to receive Luc Deweys Sensei once more, very soon, so that he may keep up such dedicated and patient work like the one he’s been developing with this faithful group of aikidokas (APARN associates or not) that is as enthusiastic for this art as for its master as well.

The seminar began Saturday at the Clube Académico in Bragança, with a welcome to Luc Deweys Sensei as well as to the spanish retinue attending.
This seminar reflected some concerns regarding educational progression.
Alexandre and Orlando, responsible for the Dojo in Bragança (ACPA), as well as all other residents received everyone with the highest esteem and consideration caracteristic of people native of Bragança. We hereby take the chance to present them with our most natural thanks for taking us in and making us feel at home.
In the end, feeling sad for this short stay, the attendees expressed their sincere will to reunite as soon as possible.
APARN couldn't leave out its thanks to the spanish retinue present.
To conclude, APARN would once again like to express its true thanks for the dedication shown by its Technical Director Luc Deweys Sensei.

APARN would like to thank António Barbosa for his availability in conducting the Technical Meeting that took place on April 12th 2008 in Matosinhos.
In the end all those present expressed their thanks for the inspiring moment, as well as the interest in continuing the developed work. As a reminder, this was the first technical meeting exclusively devoted to weapon practice.
This session dealt with the pedagogical progression in weapon practice and its relation with the human body.

On the first weekend of March 2008, an APARN retinue travelled to attend the seminar conducted by Christian Tissier Shihan in the Tenchi Sintra premises. That retinue included Belgian aikido practitioners accompanying APARN'S Technical Director, Luc Deweys Sensei.
We thank all that made this travel possible.

The past three days have been, no doubt, to remember!
The seminar began Friday at the Korpus Healthclub in Matosinhos, with a welcome to Luc Deweys Sensei and the five guests accompanying him in this journey.
It was a smooth session, to prepare physically for the Sunday session in Braga (Gimnobraga) but also to increase the rythm of those travelling to Sintra for the seminar with Christian Tissier Shihan the following day (this will be the subject of another post).
On Sunday, with the axiety of waking up ate 7:00 a.m., some restlessness was predictable since the scent of examinations was hanging in the air...
The practice was more technical than physical as, due to the number of practitioners present, there wasn't much room for falls. About an hour before the end of this session came the long waited break and...EXAMINATIONS!!!It couldn't have ended better than with the announcement of the promotions!

We couldn't end this post without thanking, from the bottom of our hearts, our friends Abdellah, Dimitri, Hassan, Manu and Marcos.

APARN is organising a cycle of thematic technical meetings. The Technical Commission conducting the meetings has, for that purpose, challenged the higher graduates to present a theme at every occasion.
A theme will be assigned to each graduate, who will take the responsibility of conducting the session. The goal of such activities is to develop the educational and technical abilities of each graduate with a research intended to be true to the principles of Aikido according to its founder.

On February 2nd it is up to Rogério Silva Sensei to open the cycle at the GIMNOBRAGA, in Braga.
